Ethan's Zooma

(anyone play Cranium?--the zooma is where you have to guess what the zoomed in picture is of)
Ethan has an obsession with taking pictures--some actually turn out well...and then others work better for this game! Can you guess what these are??

60s in Feb!

So this month the weather has been extremely mild. This week everyday has been in the 60s!! And even though we really need snow/moisture--we are sure thankful for the warm sunny days too! We took advantage of the warm weather and walked to the park every day. Ethan likes the "baby" swings so that he can go really high! Grant has been making this funny face whenever we've been outside, where he scrunches up his nose! And he's 7 mo. old this week!!

As Promised...

the video of Grant crawling!

The first one is about a week ago--like Feb. 15 and then the 2nd is from today--Feb. 26. Gone are the days of setting him down in one room to play while I'm in the other...now he crawls to find me!

Just Do It

Another funny from Ethan! So Jon has a pair of black Nikes with a white "swoosh" on them--the other day, Ethan said he liked the "sea horse" on daddy's shoes!

Grant-sters/Grantanomo/Grapple/Granty

Those are all nicknames for Grant...who is now 6 months old (well back in Jan)!! What a big boy!! He has started crawling--he can get up on his hand and knees, but when he moves it's more of an army crawl on his belly! (I'll have to post a video later) If he wants something (usually his brother's toys) he will find a way to get to it. He's very determined! He weighs 19 1/2 lbs (75th percentile)--and is about ready for a new car seat! He has 2 teeth now and although we are staying away from sweet potatoes for now, he has had rice cereal, green beans, peas, and bananas. The peas are the only ones he really spit out! Grant has a fascination with his big brother--loves to watch what he does and grabs Ethan anytime he's close to him. We started a parent/child swim class that he loves! He kicks and splashes for the entire class!
Here are some recent pics of our little one!

An apology....

to all my blog-followers (I know there are at least a couple of you!). I know I've been totally slacking on posting! Not that I don't have wonderful/interesting things to share--but school started back up for me! I'm taking 2 classes this semester (both nutrition ones). Luckily they are mostly online (for 1, we meet as a class 4 times but do the rest of the work online), so that makes it easier for me to fit it in my schedule (often late at night). So I've been keeping busy with reading, posting discussions, typing assignments and eating cultural food.

One of my classes is "cultural aspects of nutrition" so we each have to bring in a food from our heritage--or just something special to us. So far we've had: vietnamese omelette, pasta with pesto sauce, bean bread (a Native American food), and akara (a Nigerian bread made with black-eyed pea flour and hot peppers). I haven't decided yet which food from my heritage to bring yet!

I will try to update more frequently in the future!

Ethan-isms

3 is such a fun age!! Ethan is so interactive and talkative. And he is always cracking us up with the things he says and thinks. I'm trying to remember the things he says so that I can record them to laugh at in the future!

Here's a couple funny ones from recently:

  • Ethan was giving a friend a tour of our house and said..."and here's our pant-room" (pantry).
  • We were driving home from down south (of the metro area) and deciding where to grab dinner. Ethan says we should go to "the place where you go in, sit down, eat your food and then leave"--do you know any places like that??? We did finally narrow it down to the "tomato" place (Fazoli's).
  • Jon was upstairs with the boys while I was in the living room with some ladies from church. Ethan was wondering if they had brought their kids...or just curious about what we were doing. So he tells Jon "pretend I'm asleep and carry me downstairs, and then I go down there and magic...I'm awake!"

We finally are making a bit more progress with potty-training, between time/practice and a new potty chart--we might finally get there! One of Ethan's favorite things to do is play board games--including Mom and Dad's games. We played a modified version of Clue many times this past week! And he loves singing along with his musical toothbrush--Thomas (the train) and his Friends. His other new favorite thing is to rhyme--although he often has to make up words to create a rhyme. "gun, none, shun, jun...I made a rhyme"
