Summer 2013 Fun: Colorado Springs

As a family we took a mini-vacation down to Colorado Springs!  This trip also happened to coincide with Grant's birthday--so it was fun to be all together as a family on his special day.  We really enjoyed our time in Colorado Springs!

 We also visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (our 1st time)--and highly recommend it!  The highlight of course is the 10 or so giraffes (that you are above--so they lean their heads over the fence and you can feed them lettuce and pet them).  Grant loved this since giraffes are his favorite animal!  Also, the location of the zoo on the side of the mountain made this pretty unique too.

We finished our trip with a drive up to Pikes Peak.  The weather turned bad part way through and became rainy (and icy/snowy at the high altitude)--so for a while they had to close the road and we had to wait out the storm. 

Not the best of views because of the storm and the boys were cold (and crabby because of it), but it was fun to do as part of our trip
