It's become a family tradition to attend our city's culturefest. We love all the free kid activities--bounce house, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, sitting on firetrucks. It's a fun community event!
On these old firetrucks, they had one that had a crank siren that kids were allowed to try out. Then the boys got on a more modern one (the one below) that has a button for the siren--which of course Grant tries right away and quick the fireman is hopping on and stopping him--it was a lot louder than the crank one!
This summer we also went to kids' matinee movies at a local theater almost weekly. It was our Tuesday morning outing with Grandma. Their favorite movie this summer was 'Charlotte's Web' and they loved eating popcorn while watching (even Elise who would often sit on the steps of the aisle with the whole bag to herself!)
After the movie, we would often visit Bass Pro Shop--they do kids' classes/seminars on things like camping, fishing, wildlife, as well as crafts, a giant fish tank, and they have a carousel to ride too!
We spent an afternoon at the county fair--seeing the animals and participating in the kids' events
The boys are inside these giant balls--rolling them all over and running in to each other!
Towards the end of the summer--we enjoyed trips to Lakeside with each side of the family.
